125 Years of Extraordinary Moments
The Washington State Fair
Commissioned to commemorate the Washington State Fair’s 125th anniversary, this 300-page coffee table book celebrates more than a century of community, creativity, and continuity. As lead researcher, author, and editor, I wrote over 100 short essays tracing the Fair’s evolution from its 1900 origins to the present day—capturing both its historical milestones and its contemporary reinventions.
Balancing narrative depth with visual storytelling, I developed the book’s structure, tone, and content strategy to reflect the CEO’s vision for a modern, image-driven publication. Working in close collaboration with designer Edrea Lita, I led all project management—establishing schedules, milestones, and review cycles, and coordinating communication between creative and client teams. The result is a richly illustrated volume that pairs archival research with engaging, accessible writing. Originally conceived for internal audiences, the book’s success prompted the Fair to make it publicly available during the 2025 season.
