The Tribute Wall
University of Washington
Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering; The Bill & Melinda Gates Center
An interactive installation celebrating innovation, diversity, and discovery, The Tribute Wall welcomes visitors, students, and staff to the Bill & Melinda Gates Center at the University of Washington’s Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering. The experience blends storytelling, technology, and design to illuminate the milestones and people shaping both the field of computer science and the region’s culture of invention.
While at Belle & Wissell, Co., I served as researcher and writer for the project, developing more than 100 short stories that form the foundation of the interactive experience. Working with school leadership and subject matter experts, I established content objectives, themes, and narrative categories, then wrote concise, visually driven stories highlighting breakthroughs in computing, CSE’s commitment to inclusion, and the Pacific Northwest’s role as a global innovation hub. In close collaboration with the design team, I helped shape story templates and interface features to ensure clarity, cohesion, and visual appeal.
Serving as both an exploratory exhibit and ambient artwork, The Tribute Wall responds to visitor movement through waves of color and evolving story prompts. I also developed a four-issue content cycle and management plan, allowing the Allen School team to update and expand the experience over time.
